Blackpool Transport has announced service changes from November 6th which mainly address the likely traffic impacts of the complete closure of Plymouth Road to replace the railway bridge.
New service 6 will replace the 11 between Grange Park and Blackpool which allows extra running time in the Layton area and hopefully will isolate the rest of the 11 from any delays. The 6 was used for Grange Park services from 1986 to 2010, but more recently was used by Catch 22 bus for its now withdrawn Grange Park route. The new BTS route will run every 15 minutes daytimes and half hourly evenings and Sundays.
Service 7 will reduce from every 15 to every 20 minutes allowing extra time to pass through the congestion likely due to the diversion of traffic onto Devonshire Road.
New Service 8 will run from Cleveleys to Victoria Hospital as a replacement for service 9A with a handful of journeys at shift times.
The 9 will run every 12 minutes and will be diverted via Warbreck Hill Road and Devonshire Road and not serve Layton. The 9A is replaced by the 8.
Service 11 will run Blackpool to Lytham only and the 14 will be reduced to every 12 minutes.
Service 1 will be reduced to every 30 minutes for the winter, the 2C will gain extra morning and early evening trips. The 15/16 will be reduced to hourly off peak and at weekends, while the 10 and 17 will be re-routed away from the new main entrance at the Hospital, but will still serve the traditional terminus at Outpatients.
